Check out the latest press release of CHAIN REACTIONS!

The area of central Europe is well industrialised but not fully using the innovation potential generated by large leading corporations’ headquarters with strong research and development activities. As a result, the local small- and medium-sized companies (SMEs) show rather low performances in the indicator “innovating in-house and with others” as measured by the European Innovation Scoreboard.

The CHAIN REACTIONS project aims to increase the capacity of industrial businesses to innovate. The idea is to absorb new knowledge and turn it into competitiveness edge and business value, growth and profits. There is especially a need to help SMEs to overcome operational stress and a capacity shortage with respect to innovation as well as a stronger integration into emerging transnational and global value chains.

The project focuses on a few key sectors based on their embedding in regional smart specialisation strategies: advanced manufacturing, ICT and electronics, energy and environment, health, bioeconomy.

COVID-19 impacts reflected in running INTERREG Project

As agreed during the online Steering Committee meeting on 21st April 2020, INTERREG project CHAIN REACTIONS that
aims on “Driving smart industrial growth through value chain innovation”, will adjust its activities in order to reflect the current COVID-19 situation and potential impacts on value chains in the Central Europe region.

The project deals with five key sectors based on their embedding in regional smart specialization strategies. These include advanced manufacturing, ICT and electronics, energy and environment, health and bioeconomy. Pandemics COVID-19
will have strong effect on all mentioned sectors and so international partnership agreed to focus on such effects and impacts on value chains during implementation of their pilot activities. Partners responsible for individual sectors will assess potential impact of new situation on value chains and propose solutions through various business models.
